Where do you find dozens/hundreds of hot mens gift ideas in one place?

A couple of days ago one of my readers asked me a question about how to find great men’s gift ideas when you’re short of time. She was shopping for Christmas however she was going overseas running up to Christmas and wanted to get all her Christmas shopping done now in as short a time as possible.

She had a number of men to buy for and was looking for a suggestion of somewhere to go where she would be most likely to be able to buy everything in one visit.

There’s lots of ways to buy gifts online. I love to find small obscure websites that sell unique men’s gifts and to feature them here. There are some wonderful and quite unique gift ideas around and you can find small websites which sell just one item, and for the right man they would make a wonderful gift.

If you have the time you can have a lot of fun browsing around the web looking for obscure websites like this offering wonderful products which you may not find anywhere else. And you know that when he opens his gift at Christmas it’s highly unlikely that he’ll get the same gift from someone else.

But as I say this can suck up a lot of your time. It’s fun but it’s time consuming. It is also very rewarding when you find the perfect gift idea for him after putting in the effort.

To me there’s nothing worse than giving a gift at Christmas just to find that he gets the same gift from someone else, often from several other people.

What this reader wanted was a place where she could go to find all sorts of gift ideas like this. Unique, unusual gift ideas so that she could be confident that he was highly unlikely to get the same gift from someone else.

Is there a place, a one-stop shop, where you can find tons of wonderful and unique gift ideas all at the same place. Where you can do all your Christmas shopping on one website happy in the knowledge that you’ve made some great selections for hot gift ideas that are unlikely to be found everywhere else on the web.

I’ve been looking at online men’s gifts stores for quite some time and one store immediately sprang to mind. It’s my favourite men’s gifts online store and I’ve found more wonderful unique gift ideas there than anywhere else.
Men Christmas Gifts

It’s called Hammacher Schlemmer. The site is huge, they have hundreds if not thousands of products available and so many of them are unique to their store.

It’s not uncommon when searching for gift ideas to find the same product on quite a few, if not dozens of other websites. However it’s rare to find products that are featured at Hammacher Schlemmer anywhere else.

I don’t know why. Maybe they have wonderful buyers. Either way Hammacher Schlemmer is, to me, the first place that I would go if I was looking to do all my Christmas shopping in one go and I wanted to find some unusual or unique gift ideas.

Rather than simply reply to my readers enquiry I thought I’d write this here because I’m sure there are many other women who would also like to find a one-stop gifts shop where they can get all their Christmas shopping done, including shopping for gifts for their man, in one go. Read more

Whether it’s a gag gift or a kitsch gift he may well love it.

A few years ago my family got what I considered to be a reasonably kitsch Christmas gift. It’s a silver Christmas tree, about a foot high, which plays Jingle Bells Rock and rocks back and forth to the sound of your voice.
Kitsch Christmas Gifts

I hated it when we got it, however all these years later we still have it and I love it. Every Christmas the kids bring the rocking Christmas Tree out and off it goes with Jingle Bells Rock, rocking in time to the tune.

It’s almost like Christmas really isn’t Christmas without that kitsch rocking Christmas Tree. So I thought I’d see what other kitsch, or gag, Christmas gifts you could find for your man. After all, if you buy him a kitsch gift he, (and you), may well end up taking it to heart just as I have.

First of all let’s define kitsch. Here’s a definition that I got from Dictionary.com. Kitsch is “something of tawdry design, appearance, or content created to appeal to popular or undiscriminating taste”.

That seems to sum it up pretty well, and that was exactly how I felt about that rocking Christmas tree. Funny how kitsch becomes loved.

I’ve had the same thing happen before. I’m not a big fan of garden gnomes. For my birthday one year, many years ago, my wife decided, because I hated them, to buy me a garden gnome for my birthday gift. To me the garden gnome is about as kitsch as it gets. Yet all these years later we still have it, and it sits proudly by our front door.

Of course there is often very little difference between a gag gift and a kitsch gift, it’s all up to how you see it. A kitsch gift can be a great gag gift as well

Okay so let’s have a look for some gag or kitsch Christmas gifts that may well appeal to him, and if he has kids will certainly appeal to them. I know my kids absolutely love the rocking Christmas tree.

The first thing I came up with was a similar sort of thing to our Christmas tree. It’s a musical rocking Santa that sings “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” while rocking backwards and forwards in a rocking chair. However although, to me, it qualifies as kitsch it is in fact a limited edition gift.
Gag Christmas Gifts

Only just over 300 of these musical Santa’s are being produced and each one is hand-painted including the wood grain on the rocking chair.

Mind you it’s still a kitsch gift to me, limited edition or not, but of course all these things are in the eye of the beholder and it may be that your man will absolutely love it. Or maybe, like me, he’ll hate it to begin with and after a little while he’ll love it as I do.

Much cheaper is a farting Santa. You can find the farting Santa at Prank Place, one of my favorite shops for retro, gag and kitsch gifts.

And I was surprised to find that there were even entire stores totally devoted to kitsch gifts. 3 of them that I found were notoriouskitsch.co.uk, kitschshop.com and kitsch.co.uk.

So if you’re a little stumped for a great Christmas idea for your man this year consider gag or kitsch. If I’m anything to go by he might find in a few years that it’s one of his most treasured gifts that has to come out every Christmas or it’s not really Christmas. Read more

I’ve always been a big fan of motorĀ  racing. I know it’s not entirely climate friendly, but I just love car racing. In fact I love cars generally.
Men Gifts

Today I came across a wonderful gift for a Nascar fan. Nascar racing just has to be some of the most exciting motor racing there is and I know it has a huge following, so there will be plenty of men who would love a great Nascar Christmas gift.

I think this is a brilliant gift for a Nascar fan. It’s a crystal Nascar. Incredibly detailed, beautifully presented on a matching stand with a replica of the drivers autograph. You can choose from number 24, Jeff Gordon, number 8, Dale Earnhardt Jr or number 48, Jimmie Johnson.

I found them at Taylor Gifts, on their website at http://www.taylorgifts.com/, although they’ve sold gifts offline for more than half a century.

I just don’t know what it is about motor racing that gets my blood going. But it does. And Nascar has to be some of the best motor racing around.

While I was looking at the Taylor gifts website I decided to browse around a little more to see what else they had to offer. It’s a pretty big website with plenty there for the car lover, and anyone else for that matter. If your man loves his motoring I’m sure that you could find a good gift idea for him there.
Men Gifts

A gift idea for any man who lives in a hot climate is the micro fridge. It’s a tiny little fridge that’s just big enough to hold 4 drinks and his lunch, and it plugs into the power outlet in the car. And of course it’s not just something that he can use in the car. He can use standard AC power as well and so it can go just about anywhere where he is likely to need a little cooling for his drinks.

Maybe out on the water if he’s out fishing, may be at work so he’s got a cold drink to hand when he needs it or anywhere else where he can plug it in to keep his drinks and his lunch cool.

It’s very small and will go just about anywhere.

There’s some great automotive gift ideas for the motoring man, and at a very reasonable price. Even if you’re a little short this year you can come up with some good gift ideas for very little. Here’s a gift idea for a motoring man for under $3.

It’s a gas gripper. You know what it’s like when you’re filling up. You have to hold the lever of the pump handle and after a while, if it’s a long fill, your forearm starts to get sore. The gas gripper is a simple little idea to clip around the lever and allow the car to fill without needing to hang on the whole time.
Men Gifts

I know my wife has complained about a sore forearm when filling up, and when you buy the gas gripper you get 2 of them, (so you can give him one and keep the other for yourself). For $3 for 2 of them it’s a very cheap and simple gift idea for a man who loves his motoring.

I have to say that I hadn’t come across the website of Taylor Gifts before. There’s so many gifts stores on the Internet that even after all this time looking at men’s gift ideas there are still some online gift stores that are new to me. This is great news because it is always fun to find new stores to browse to find out what sorts of new ideas for gifts are available on their website.

I also found some fun gag gifts on their site as well, including some which would be a good idea for a gag gift for a motoring man for Christmas if he’s the sort that appreciates a good laugh on Christmas Day. Read more
