Is your man a motorcyclist? Does he love long rides to unknown places? Does he get lost sometimes?

It’s pretty common. Navigating, especially for a motorcyclist, isn’t always easy when he’s going somewhere he hasn’t been before. It’s not like a car where he can ask his passenger to navigate for him.
motorcycle gps

Of course he can always stop, get off his bike, pull out the map and have a look. Time consuming but works well, till it’s raining.

Have you considered a gift for him to help with all this? How about a motorcycle GPS system?

They aren’t cheap, but for well under $1000 he can have a motorcycle GPS that is specifically designed for motorcycle use. It comes with a mount specifically designed for mounting on a bike, and is fully waterproof and vibration resistant.

It will both show him, and tell him, via wireless bluetooth technology direct to an earpiece in his helmet, exactly where he is going and how to get to where he wants to go. Every step of the way it will give him exact directions so he knows where and when to turn.

Preplan a route and input it into his GPS and it will take him there, or navigate on the fly. Want to go via fuel stops, or accomodation stops, or via various points of interest along the way? It will do it all using preloaded maps of the whole of North America.

Perhaps he’d like to listen to some music along the way? Load it into his motorcycle GPS unit and he can listen all he likes. Maybe take some photos and show them to his friends. His GPS will do that too.

Download it all to his computer at the end of the ride and keep the route for the next time, or send it to friends to review or keep, it’s all possible, and much much more.

And if he’s a car driver as well he can mount his GPS unit in his car and use it the same way when he’s driving.

Motorcycle GPS has come a long way since the days when you got a hand held unit that told you a latitude and a longitude. Modern mapping software is highly effective, and when combined with Global Positioning System Technology, becomes the best and most sought after navigation system in history. Read more

Sometimes it’s a little too easy buying a “normal” gift.

There’s no doubt that as a society we’re getting, on average, fatter. Both men and women. And this brings with it some related health problems. Like heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes, and more.

I’ve written before about giving the gift of health to a man. I think that sometimes we get too bound up in the gift giving thing and end up missing some of the most important gifts we can give each other. Like love, time, commitment, and lots more, including health.

Of course it can often be much harder to do this. If it’s his birthday it’s easy to jump on the net, find a nice looking present and buy it. Job done. Giving him something more serious and personal can take much more.

Now of course you can’t just give him health. That’s something that must be worked on for a lifetime. But you can do lots of things to ensure that he is more likely to be healthy than he would be without your efforts. Encourage him to exercise more. Cook nutritious food and so on. There’s lots you can do that take effort on your part, but are worth it in the long run.

And when I come across something that I think is worth mentioning I’ll do so here as well. Here’s one. Chelation Therapy.

Now I confess that this is new to me, and I haven’t personally tried it, so I started doing some reading about it. I was surprised with what I read. It involves the use of an amino acid (EDTA) to clean the bloodstream thereby producing a range of health related benefits. Read more

Does he love swimming and playing with the kids in the pool?

If you’re lucky enough to have a pool, and you’ve got kids, then you’ve probably noticed that dads love playing in the pool with the kids. Lets face it, men are just big kids at heart anyway.
Fathers Day Gifts

And if he loves playing in the pool with the kids then a gift for, say, his birthday or fathers day that increases the fun in the pool just has to be a great gift for a father who loves getting wet with the kids.

How about a motorized bumper boat?

In other words a boat that goes under it’s own power, that’s fun to use like a bumper car, but in the water.

Sounds like something that both dads and the kids would love.

Battery powered, it moves at around 3 mph, so he’s not going water skiing with it, (but who water skis in the pool anyway?) But it’s fully steerable with it’s own steering wheel and is made of tough PVC so it can withstand some rough and tumble with the kids.

It comes with it’s own air pump so he can pump it up and then let it down for easy storage. 4 hours use from the batteries, it’s a heap of fun for a family man who loves the water and the kids.

Of course the kids will want one too so you need to buy 2. But it’s cheaper than I expected, only $99.95, so maybe you could afford 2!

Either way it’s a great gift for a dad with a love of water.

Get to Hammacher Schlemmer to get it. When you get to their site just search “bumper boat” in their search bar at the top and there it is.

Does he love coffee? Does he love Starbucks coffee? Give him a Starbucks gift card.

Starbucks coffee is pretty popular. Really popular actually. You probably know that.

Did you know that you can get a Starbucks gift card? Lots of people don’t know that you can.

So if your man loves Starbucks, and you think a Starbucks gift card would make a fine gift for him, then head on over to Starbucks gift cards and order him a Starbucks card.

You can choose your card and also choose the value of the card. Go on, be generous. He loves coffee.

And at the moment you can also get a greeting card as well as part of your gift card purchase. That’s not a digital greeting card. It’s a heavy weight paper card that you can personalize with your own message. So you can include it with his gift. Or perhaps post it to him.

And if he loves coffee don’t just give him a Starbucks gift card, why not a great coffee gift to go with his gift card as well? I’ve already written about some great coffee gifts that you can get, including coffee gift boxes. Read more

It’s often hard to think of great gift ideas for grandad.

I have been thinking about grandpas lately. And gift ideas for grandads. Because of course if it’s his birthday then grandfathers need a great gift idea too. Problem is often that your options are more limited.

He’s often got just about all he needs, and often his needs are more limited than they used to be. Sometimes he lives in some form of retirement accomodation as well, and so has limited space. I know that’s what my grandparents did.

So what do you get grandad when his birthday comes around?

Often a great gift idea is one that makes him more comfortable in some way.
Gift For Grandad

Here’s an idea I came across that I think would make a lovely gift for a grandfather. Shower chairs. Often older people can be prone to falls and broken bones, and the shower is a prime place for a fall. But a bench that he can sit on should eliminate the risk of falls and make for some quality shower time.

It’s adjustable so he can make it the exact height he wants. It has rubberized feet to prevent slipping and protect the floor of the shower. And because it can be lowered it could be used in the bath as well if he isn’t up to getting right down onto the bottom of the bath.

Now a shower bench isn’t a new idea, but this is one of the best looking ones I have come across. And unlike most that are made of plastic and look a little ordinary, this one is made of teak that is known to be water resistant and shouldn’t build up mildew or warp, and looks good.

It’s from First Street. They do products and gift ideas for “Boomers and Beyond”. It’s a great idea, a shop dedicated to the older person and the older persons needs. So they have a lot of good ideas that would make fine gifts for older men, and which you may not find in the average gifts store.

For instance a wallet that’s designed specially to go in the front pocket of his trousers because sitting on a wallet isn’t so good for the back. Read more
