Endangered animal adoptions are Christmas gifts for animal lovers that benefit the animals.

I seem to be on a bit of a environmental and social awareness kick here, and as I’m on a roll I’ll carry on. Christmas gifts for animal lovers that benefit the animals as well as the lovers.
Endangered Animal Adoption

I’m sure everyone knows there are some of the most wonderful animals on our planet that are critically endangered and in some cases on the point of extinction.

Endangered animals like the Snow Leopard, the Panda, the Polar Bear (as their habitat disappears from global warming) and hundreds/thousands more.

If your man is an animal lover then the perfect Christmas gift for him may well be a gift of caring – for an animal. For one of dozens of threatened and endangered animals through the World Wildlife Fund, through an animal adoption. 80 in fact.

There are a number of choices, including a single gift adoption through a gift adoption card, which allows him to choose the animal he adopts himself. Or you could give him an adoption of the month club, which gives him 12 months of animal adoptions, one different animal every month.

And there’s lots more gift ideas on the WWF website from small symbolic gifts right up to gift ideas for the seriously rich gift giver, for anything up to $millions. If that’s you then you can make a real difference through the WWF.

Green Christmas gifts like carbon credits help in a small way to reduce the effects of global warming.

More and more people are becoming aware of the impact our activities have had on this precious planet of ours, and are attempting to move to more sustainable lifestyles.

And there are all sorts of ideas available for great green Christmas gifts, and I’ve written about some.

Here’s another. Why not give him carbon credits for Christmas, that’s a pretty cool and green Christmas gift idea?

Now whilst an individual purchase of carbon credits isn’t going to mitigate the effects of global warming all by itself, it is a small step on the right path. And if we all take small steps, including the giving of green gifts, then things start to happen.

But many people aren’t exactly sure how carbon credits work, or where or how to buy them.

A carbon credit is a way of offsetting your, or his, carbon footprint, or the amount of carbon you produce. Here’s an example. A car has a carbon emitting effect. It depends on the size of the car, the fuel type, the amount of miles travelled and so on. And it’s possible to calculate this for every car.

Once you’ve done that you can purchase enough carbon credits to offset the amount of carbon emitted by the car. Or anything.

It’s cool to be green, so give cool Christmas gifts this year.

Green is becoming cooler and cooler. With the steady realization that we’ve mucked up our world big time, green is the new cool.

And whilst green is cool, it doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy things you enjoyed in the past, like Christmas. Just make an effort to give green Christmas gifts from now on. And don’t stop there, make a commitment to stay green with everything you do.

So if cool Christmas gifts are green this year, what suggestions do I have? Here’s a bunch from one of my favorite green eco shops. Ecoutlet. A UK online shop. Full of all sorts of cool green gift ideas. Here’s a few.
Cool Christmas Gift

I’m concentrating on cool kitchen gifts. There are lots of men like me, who love to cook and spend time in the kitchen. So here’s a few ideas for green kitchen gifts for a man like that who has a sense of environmental responsibility as well.

1. The Presso Coffee Maker.

It uses no electricity. Yes I said NO electricity. It’s all done manually, so he just has to exert a little effort and make the coffee himself. And there’s nothing wrong with expending a little effort, it’s good for us.
Cool Christmas Gift

You can see from the photo that it has 2 arms to use to press down on, thereby forcing the water through the coffee. Manually operated, electricity free.

2. The Eco Kettle

Most people put way too much water in the kettle to boil when they guestimate how much to put in. And the kettle boils all of it. It is estimated that on average we boil twice what we need each time. Kettles take a lot of power, so that’s a lot of power wasted.

With the Eco Kettle you just fill it up then select how many cups of water you want to boil, and it boils your exact requirements. No need to use any more electricity than the minimum.

3. The Sustainable Timber Sushi Board.

I make Sushi, I’m not very good at it, most of my rolls are different diameters, but they’re good to eat. Here’s a beautiful timber Sushi board from sustainable timber. And it’s an extremely functional Sushi board as well.

Many timber products are from unsustainable timbers, often from rainforest clearing in developing countries. It is considered that rainforest clearing is a major contributor to greenhouse gases.

A Holiday gift idea that allows a stock market junkie to go away and still stay in touch with the markets.

I know there are many people who make a good living from trading the markets. And often they are tied to their computers all day, and when they go away they end up sitting in internet cafes or libraries trying to keep track of their stocks.
Holiday Gift Idea

So a holiday gift that allows him to keep track of his stocks without a computer or internet connection, or even electricity, may well be the ticket for a man like that.

So here’s a good solution for a man who is reticent to get remote because he loses his contact with the markets. The wireless stock market reporter. The ideal holiday gift for the man tied to the markets.

It works with no need for an internet connection. It depends instead on the wireless remote paging system used by doctors and first responders, and works anywhere in the US. No need for electricity, it works on AAA batteries.

Here’s what it keeps track of: The Dow Jones Industrial Average, The NASDAQ and the Standard And Poor’s 500 Index, updating every 15 minutes.

Is a Christmas gift basket a great gift, or a Christmas copout?

Gift baskets, including Christmas gift baskets, are a massive part of the gifts industry, in fact probably the largest part. But is a gift basket for Christmas a good Christmas gift?

I see gift baskets as a little like gift certificates. It’s the sort of thing you buy when you’re stuck for an idea for – something to buy.
Christmas Gift Basket

Now that’s not to say that I don’t like gift baskets because I do. It’s just that, to me, a gift basket can be a bit of a copout.

There’s a number of reasons for that, and there’s exceptions, as you’ll see.

The first reason is that a gift basket can be a little too easy. No thought required, just logon, find an interesting gift basket, buy it and job done. Now of course if you end up buying a great gift basket that your man just loves then fine, you’ve got a great Christmas gift. But often you don’t.

I like to see some thought go into a gift, and that includes a gift basket. And there’s a number of ways that you can organize a wonderful gift basket for him if you’ve made a little extra effort.

First is to make your own. Work out exactly what he’d like and make a gift basket for him filled with all those good things. Buy the basket and the wrapping, cook some fine food like fudge or toffee or cookies and add some gifts extra special to him, and you’ve got a beautiful Christmas gift basket for him. You’ve thought about exactly what he’ll love, and provided a gift basket for him filled with all those things. A great gift.

The second way is to buy a commercial gift basket, but from a supplier which allows you to create a personalized gift basket by choosing your own gifts to add to it to make it unique.

So again you can spend some time thinking of exactly what he’d like in a gift basket and choosing the right gifts for his basket, so you’ve got a gift basket personalized to his own interests.

There are a number of companies that allow you to personalize a Christmas gift basket like this. You select the basket, wrapping, and exactly what goes in it. My favorite is Design It Yourself Gift Baskets, who allow you to do exactly this.
