I have written about gift cards on this site before. Gift cards like Simon gift cards and Visa gift cards. However I had no idea that they were so popular.

According to the National Retail Federation gift cards are big business. BIG business. $26 billion worth of business to be exact, this holiday season. Can you believe that we spend that much money on gift cards?

A gift card like the Simon Gift card (which is in fact a Visa gift card) works as a way to give someone what is in effect a cash gift, but doing it a little more subtly than just giving cash.

The card is purchased to a value, then the recipient is able to redeem the value of the card at any place that gift card is accepted. In the case of the Visa gift card for example, anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted, although possibly with some exceptions.

It is possible to purchase gift cards in lots of guises. I, for example, have received a gift card from a large retail chain, but it can only be redeemed at that particular chain. Nowhere else.

However the purpose of this article is not to cover the particular gift cards available, but to alert you to the fact that gift cards are not as good a gift as cash, on a purely monetary basis. That a gift card purchased for, say, $50 does not enable the purchase of $50 worth of gifts or products, or if it does it may cost the purchaser more than $50.

You’re familiar with Plumbers Butt right?

Gag Christmas Gift

No? Don’t know what Plumbers Butt is? Have you ever stood behind a plumber, or any other tradesman, while he worked bent over? What have you noticed about where the bottom of his shirt is, and what’s showing?

That’s Plumbers Butt, and if your man is guilty of Plumbers Butt, then I’ve got a good Christmas gift idea for you. A way to eliminate Plumbers Butt forever.

It’s a gag gift with a serious side. Funny Christmas gifts are great, but if they’ve got a serious and useful side that’s even better.
It’s called the Crack Spackle. A T-shirt in a bucket. But it’s no ordinary T-shirt. It’s a 100% cotton T-shirt that is specifically designed to be 3 inches longer than other T-shirts, so when he bends over it stays tucked in!

A serious work shirt, long or short sleeved with side vents.

And here’s suggestion number 2 for his Butt. Again, a bit of a gag but it has a serious side too.

Anti Monkey Butt Powder. Now if your man is a biker he’ll know what Monkey Butt is. The soreness and itching that bikers get from sitting on a bike seat for hours on end. I’m a cyclist and I know what it’s like. Or horse riders, or long distance drivers, hikers, boaters or anyone who suffers from soreness and itching from sweating and chaffing on any part of their body.

Christmas day is about eating drinking and exchanging gifts. And doing it all with family and loved ones.

A big part of the eating and drinking bit, at least in our household, is champagne. Now I’m not a big drinker usually, but hey, Christmas day is Christmas day. And I’m not driving anywhere.

Now you can make his Christmas day extra special by personalizing his champagne. That’s right, special personalized champagne just for him and nobody else, with your special message on it.

Personalized Champagne
You do it by personalizing the label on the champagne bottle. You put your own special message on the label just from you to him. Large champagne bottles, mini champagne bottles, you can personalize them both. Even non alcoholic champagne. As well as personalize the message you can even design your own label and upload your label, then personalize it with the perfect message.

One of my favorite parts of Christmas is the exchange of Christmas cards. I love Christmas cards, we hang them all over and they all fall off as soon as I open the door and a gust of wind comes in.

But I’m a little bored by the same old Christmas cards year after year, and I’ve written an article about it suggesting some ideas for mens Christmas cards that aren’t boring at all.

And I’ve got another suggestion for Christmas cards that are out of the ordinary as well. Photo Christmas cards.

Photo Christmas cards are about as personalized as a Christmas card can get. Christmas photo cards are all about adding a personal touch to the cards you send out to all your friends by adding some wonderful, well chosen personal photos of you or both you and your family.

You need some great photos of course, you can’t make a Christmas photo card without some great photos to put on them, but as long as you’ve got some really nice photos to put on the card you can make some wonderfully unique photo Christmas cards that are extra special to the recipient.

Nothing boring about that at all. Quite unique.

A while ago I wrote an article about the Great Christmas Tree Debate. About the real versus artificial Christmas tree dilemma. Do you buy a real Christmas tree or do you buy an artificial Christmas tree?

I didn’t really come down on either side of the debate, I just pointed out the things you might like to consider when choosing your tree for Christmas this year. It’s an individual choice of course, and there are different considerations for everyone.

When my article was published one of my readers pointed out the fire risks of real Christmas trees. I had mentioned the fire risk, but this reader had seen a Christmas tree burn and so left her observations about the experience on my site.

More recently another reader pointed out that the fire risk of real Christmas trees was a factor of when they were cut. That if a Christmas tree was cut just before it was purchased then it wouldn’t pose a risk of fire because of the high water content. That trees that posed a risk of fire were usually from retailer who cut the trees well before sale.
