Why, because I want one. I’m a man.

I love to cook. I do the cooking for my family and have cooked for myself and others for many years. It’s something I learned from my parents when I was young and I’ve just always enjoyed it.

It’s a stereotype that women cook the food and men eat it, and that men don’t get involved in the cooking. Of course like all stereotypes there’s a lot of truth in it, but it’s also completely wrong for many men. After all, aren’t most of the worlds best chefs men?

I have all sorts of frustrations over herbs. I love fresh herbs in my food. Problem is, the recipe calls for a spoon full of herbs, and I need to buy a bucket full, most of which go off in the fridge.

I’ve tried growing my own. With some success. And some failures. Frost, snails, slugs, birds, lack of water, my chickens and lots more have all contributed to the demise of most of my herbs over time. And they go to seed, or the kids pull them up, or ……

Whatever it is they don’t seem to survive the disaster zone that is my garden.

So a wonderful indoor herb garden that supplies it’s own herbs at hand, when he wants them, would be to die for. Out of reach of drought, beaks, mouths and kids. And perfect for when you live somewhere without any garden!

Automatically watered, it’s own light source, and apparently plants grow much faster than in a regular garden when grown this way. They certainly would compared to my garden! And it comes with it’s own seeds.

And once the herbs are grown he just breaks off a piece and the rest keeps on growing, not dying in the fridge.

Now as I said, your man may well not love this gift idea at all. At least not if he doesn’t cook, and doesn’t want to. But if he does cook it may well just be the most brilliant of birthday gifts for him, or Christmas gifts. If you’re looking for great gifts for guys who cook, this one ranks. For guys who don’t, forget it.

And of course there’s lots of women out there who are looking for great gift ideas for cooking men, (lucky girls). This may well be the idea you’ve been looking for.

I found this at Problem Solvers. It’s not really a [tag-tec]gifts website[/tag-tec]. It’s more a website offering all sorts of unique and innovative ideas to solve normal household problems. You’re not going to find pages of great gifts for guys there, but it’s still well worth a look. After all you never know where that perfect gift idea may unexpectedly pop up.

In that article I wrote that for some people creating a gift was sometimes a journey, far more than just finding something great and buying it and giving it to someone.

That for some people creating a really great gift takes some of yourself. It takes passion and commitment and effort. And the result is sometimes a gift that surpasses anything the recipient could have ever asked for.

This is another example.

It’s about a bagger in a store. And a gift he creates for his customers. Not particularly about a gift for men, it’s a gift for anyone who lines up in his line.

But I was so touched by the video that I had to put it here anyway. Even if it isn’t specifically about a gift for a man.

Because it shows the type of effort required to make a really wonderful gift, for anyone. The bagger didn’t need to do what he did, but he did it anyway. And the result far surpassed what anyone would have expected.

Because of the effort he put into it.

I said in my previous article that for 99% of people it’s fine to get out there, find a great gift, buy it, wrap it and give it to someone as a nice gift. And it is.

But for 1% it’s not enough, it takes more effort than that to produce something of real and lasting value.

This is the second example of that 1% that I have seen in 2 days.

It finishes with the line “Great service comes from the heart”. It could equally be “a truly great gift comes from the heart”.

For most it’s a simple task. Think of an object he’d love, get out there and find it, buy it, wrap it up to look good and give it to him. Hope he loves it.

That’s fine. For 99% of us that’s what finding the right gift for your man is all about.

And there’s nothing at all wrong with that.

But for that 1% finding a great gift for him goes far further. It’s a journey of love. A journey of commitment, a journey of passion.

A regular gift just isn’t good enough. It doesn’t give enough of yourself. It doesn’t truly say what you want it to say. It’s inadequate for what you want it to mean.

That 1% of people invest a lot of themselves into finding, or creating, a wonderful gift for him. A truly unique gift. A gift that says volumes about how you really feel about him.

Here’s one such gift created by that 1% person. I don’t know who she is, but I know that she wanted HER gift for her man to be special. Extra special. So she put in the hard yards to make it special. REALLY special. And she REALLY succeeded.

This is a wonderful gift for a man. One of the best if not the best I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if her man ever saw it or not. I hope so.

It may have cost her nothing in dollars, I don’t know. But it cost her in effort, in time, in love. And the result is more than worthwhile.
