It's cool to be green, so give cool Christmas gifts this year.

Green is becoming cooler and cooler. With the steady realization that we've mucked up our world big time, green is the new cool.

And whilst green is cool, it doesn't mean that you can't enjoy things you enjoyed in the past, like Christmas. Just make an effort to give green Christmas gifts from now on. And don't stop there, make a commitment to stay green with everything you do.

So if cool Christmas gifts are green this year, what suggestions do I have? Here's a bunch from one of my favorite green eco shops. Ecoutlet. A UK online shop. Full of all sorts of cool green gift ideas. Here's a few.
Cool Christmas Gift

I'm concentrating on cool kitchen gifts. There are lots of men like me, who love to cook and spend time in the kitchen. So here's a few ideas for green kitchen gifts for a man like that who has a sense of environmental responsibility as well.

1. The Presso Coffee Maker.

It uses no electricity. Yes I said NO electricity. It's all done manually, so he just has to exert a little effort and make the coffee himself. And there's nothing wrong with expending a little effort, it's good for us.
Cool Christmas Gift

You can see from the photo that it has 2 arms to use to press down on, thereby forcing the water through the coffee. Manually operated, electricity free.

2. The Eco Kettle

Most people put way too much water in the kettle to boil when they guestimate how much to put in. And the kettle boils all of it. It is estimated that on average we boil twice what we need each time. Kettles take a lot of power, so that's a lot of power wasted.

With the Eco Kettle you just fill it up then select how many cups of water you want to boil, and it boils your exact requirements. No need to use any more electricity than the minimum.

3. The Sustainable Timber Sushi Board.

I make Sushi, I'm not very good at it, most of my rolls are different diameters, but they're good to eat. Here's a beautiful timber Sushi board from sustainable timber. And it's an extremely functional Sushi board as well.

Many timber products are from unsustainable timbers, often from rainforest clearing in developing countries. It is considered that rainforest clearing is a major contributor to greenhouse gases.

Charging stations take the headaches out of charging.

I always find I have all sorts of wires and devices and chargers hanging off my workspaces, charging things like cell phones, PDA's and so on. So a charging station for a man like me makes a fine Christmas gift.

If you're unfamiliar with charging stations, they're a charge it all device that allows charging of more than one electronic device at a time. Lots in fact.
Charging Station

A charging station takes the headaches and junk out of charging. They can also be called a power station.

I actually find at my place that most of the charging is done on the kitchen bench, just because that's where it ends up, so a charging station would free up a whole stack of kitchen bench space, and so I'm getting one.

I think you can see the usefullness of charging stations just from looking at the photo I've supplied. And here's a bit more about one of the best, quoted from the website:

"This six-way power station can charge multiple cell phones, PDAs, digital cameras, phone headsets, and MP3 players in an organized spot that only requires the use of one outlet. The charger includes six adapters that fit most portable devices, allowing an entire briefcase-full of electronic office tools to be fully powered in an average of two hours. Indicator lights keep track of which devices are currently charging and which are finished. Includes six adapters: iPod®/iPhone®, Nokia cell phones, Motorola cell phones, Palm Treo®, Sony PSP, and Samsung cell phones. Includes AC charger, DC car charger, and carrying case"

A Christmas gift for a man who likes it hot.

I'll admit I'm a chillli fan. I love chillies, chilli sauces, curries, the lot. I'm cooking a curry for tonight, it'll be a hot one.

Here's a Christmas gift for a man who likes it hot. A Christmas food gift basket that is full of seriously hot sauces. Really hot. After all, isn't Christmas, or really any time for that matter, a time for having it hot?

Now if you're going to the trouble of buying him a lovely saucy Christmas gift you can't just buy him one bottle. What happens when he runs out a few weeks after Christmas?
Hot Sauces

So you've got to buy him a Christmas food gift basket full of hot sauces, one bottle just won't cut it.

So I've featured some of the wonderful gift baskets and gift sets from Gourmet Mikes.

Just check out some of these sauces.

Daves Insanity Sauce, Blair's Megadeath, Magma Hot Sauce, Da Bomb Ground Zero and Mad Dog's 357 with bullet keychain.

I have no idea what the bullet keychain has to do with it, but the sauces sound great. I'd love it for Christmas.
Hot Sauces

And they rank their sauces by hotness. What do these sauces get? 10!

Now of course they don't just do chilli sauces hot enough to blow his head off, there's a ton of others available too, way further down on the hotness scale. So if your man likes his chilli, but a little milder, you can pick a milder one.

Exotic Christmas Gifts with an environmental awareness tick

I wrote a couple of days ago about Christmas gifts for the socially aware male. About choosing fine Christmas presents for a recipient who cares about where the gift comes from, how it is purchased and how the purchase of that gift affects others who are less fortunate than us.

Exotic Christmas Gifts
And I will write more about that in the future, I am compiling a list of places to go to source gifts from socially and environmentally responsible retailers. Stay tuned.

However today I just had to tell you about a small company that makes beautiful glassware using a patented recycling process.

Their products would make a wonderful and quite unique and exotic Christmas gift, and they are all recycled and environmentally responsible.

Exotic Christmas Gifts
The company is Green Glass. Nominated for the peoples choice award of 2007 for the best green business of the year, they convert old bottles into beautiful drinking glasses of various stunning colors and designs.

There's not a lot more that I can say, the photos speak for themselves. A wonderful and quite exotic [tag-tec]Christmas gift idea[/tag-tec] for a man who loves to entertain. And manufactured in an environmentally responsible and caring way. They even reuse their shipping materials.

Unique Christmas gifts for men with a social conscience.

There is a big movement worldwide towards social and environmental conscienceness. Towards an understanding that we all have to live together in this world, and we need to do it in a way that is less destructive to the environment, and less unfair to those less fortunate than us.

So I'd like to make some suggestions for Christmas gifts for the socially and environmentally aware male. Christmas gifts that you can give him knowing that you can both be satisfied that your choice of gift is one which pays attention to those principals.

I'm going to be suggesting some gifts from Fair Trade. Fair Trade is "an international human rights organization dedicated to promoting environmental, political and social justice."

They do much good work, including offering a shop where aware shoppers can shop for wonderful Christmas gifts, or birthday gifts or any other type of gifts, for both men and women. Where gift shoppers can find a huge range of gift ideas sourced from environmentally and socially responsible sources.
Unique Christmas Gifts

Here's 4 quite unique Christmas gift ideas from the Fair Trade shop, any of which would make a wonderful Christmas gift for the right man.

1. A Mans Bone Necklace.

Whilst not all men wear jewelry, many do, and here is a unique and quite distinctive Christmas gift for the man who likes his jewelry.

It's a bone necklace from Kenya. Bone carving is a tradition in Kenya that goes back centuries, and is passed from family to family.

This is a necklace that he can wear confident that he's not going to see it on many other men this year. Quite unique.

2. A Peruvian Gourd Birdhouse.

For the man who loves to see birds in his garden, buy him a birdhouse made in Peru from gourds. Each one is different, as each gourd is different, and many feature scenes of village life.

The perfect way to attract birdlife to the garden to fill it with song.

3. A Chocolate Gift Basket With A Difference.

Dads who are just big kids need hot Christmas gifts too.

There's so many men who are really just a big kid at heart. That's not meant to be derogatory, just a recognition that for many men, fun is at the heart of life. And that's probably pretty healthy.
Christmas Gifts For Dads

And aren't dads just the biggest kids? They play with their own kids and love it.

So for the man who's a big kid who just loves to play, or for that matter the dad who plays with his kids all the time, here's 3 Christmas gift ideas.

1. The 40-Foot Marshmallow Blaster.

A pump action pneumatic gun that shoots marshmallows up to 40 feet.

He can challenge his kids to catch the marshmallows in their mouth!

2. The Electric Water Cannon Boat
Christmas Gifts For Dads

The winner of an award at the Miami Boat Show for innovation, it's a rechargeable electric boat, with it's own water cannon.

So the man who loves to play in the water with his kids can have the time of his life with the family. 6 hours of use from one charge, and the water cannon throws the water up to 35 feet.

For fresh water only.

3. Remote Controlled Submarines.

Tiny remote controlled submarines. When the kids are in the bath or the pool he can secretly add these 2 submarines to the water and delight the kids.
Christmas Gifts For Dads

Fast and manouvrable, the submarines can provide hours of fun for the whole family.

He gets 2 so he can hold races. And at night races can even be more fun as each sub has it's own dual LED headlights.

3 great Christmas gift ideas for any dad who loves to have fun, and who loves to play with his kids.

Or then again just give them to the kids, and they'll play with them with Dad. Either way they are great fun. But if you think they're just kids toys you're wrong. The most recent toy that I have bought is one of those tiny remote control helicopters, and I'm 51.
