Choosing Groomsmens Gifts. 7 Important Things To Consider
A groomsmens gift is a gift to one of the most important people involved in one of the most important days in your life.
A wedding day ranks right there at the top of the list of important days for most people. If, when you got to old age, you were asked to list the days in your life that meant the most to you your wedding day would be right up there.
Along with it would be the days each of your kids were born, the day you met your future wife, and a bunch of days that were extra special to you for various personal reasons.
And there are a small group of people who have an extremely important role in that special day. For a man his groomsman or men is or are those special people.
So when it comes to choosing a gift for your groomsman, you need to put some extra special effort in. Your average mens gift isn’t sufficient for a groomsmens gift.
You, of course, know your groomsman well. His likes and dislikes, his personal quirks, his habits. So it’s well worth spending some time thinking closely about the type of gift that would appeal to him.
Here’s a few tips to choosing groomsmens gifts that may help:
- Keep it small. By small I don’t mean cheap, I mean small in size. Definitely not cheap. However it is more customary to concentrate on small rather than large gifts for groomsmens gifts.
- Make it good quality, and stylish. Don’t skimp on his gift. It is intended as a big thank you and needs to be appropriate for the occasion.
- Try to think laterally. There are many standard groomsmens gifts available, and they are nice gifts. But if you can think of a gift that would be extra special to him it will be much more appreciated. Take your time, think about it. Run your ideas past someone else who knows him well to see if they agree with your choice of gift for him.
- Be prepared to spend some money on him. This is one of the most important people in your life. He has probably spent his own money on you already, for example for your party, tuxedo and so on. Don’t skimp.
- Make it personal. He may still have, and use, your gift 40 years from now, if it’s a good one. How much better is it if it has a personal message from you to him engraved on it? Engraved gifts have extra meaning for a great groomsman.
- Make it something he can use, frequently. A gift that is used every day is a gift that is appreciated every day. The obvious one is a watch, and a watch makes a nice groomsmans gift for the right groomsman. But make sure your groomsman is one who would have a need for and appreciate a watch.
Here are a few ideas to help get those creative juices flowing.
A pocket watch. A watch is a nice, though perhaps a little routine, groomsmans gift. However a pocket watch is very different. A pocket watch is a watch that says something to those around him. For a professional man a pocket watch is a very nice touch. Consider a good quality personally engraved pocket watch.
A business card holder. The man who has a business card holder can use it every day, and if it’s a nice looking holder he will be proud to bring it out to offer his cards around.
A fountain pen. Very few people write with a fountain pen now. It’s slower, it’s old fashioned, and it’s – really pleasant. I have a fountain pen and I love it. I don’t write with it all the time but when I do, for example when writing a letter or a card, I really appreciate it. Almost everyone sends emails now anyway so he will use it only when he needs to do some special writing. He’ll appreciate it when he uses it.
Good luck finding that special groomsmens gift for him. Take your time, think about it and you will come up with that extra special idea.
