Hang Yourself On His Wall For Christmas
I have written before about fine oil paintings as a great Christmas or birthday gift for a man. Well at least for a man who is into his art. The last article I wrote about it was “How To Buy Him A Van Gogh for Christmas“. I think a gift of a painting is a fine gift for the right man. It’s certainly one of the more unusual Christmas presents, but it’s a very effective one in the right circumstances.
In my original article I suggested a reproduction of a master painter like Van Gogh. Now of course almost none of us can actually afford a Van Gogh for a Christmas gift, it would probably be one of the most expensive Christmas gifts ever. However there is absolutely no reason why we can’t afford a Van Gogh reproduction.
I was asked if it’s illegal to do this. No of course not, as long as it is sold as a reproduction, not an original. And the reproductions look every bit as good as the originals, in fact exactly the same.
This time I’m going to make a slightly different suggestion. An original hand painted oil painting of someone extra special to him, like you. Do you think he’d like an original oil painting of you to hang on his wall for Christmas? Or perhaps an oil painting of someone else special to him, like his kids, or his entire family.
It’s not hard to get it done, and it makes for a nice Christmas gift for a man who likes his art. To find an artist who will do this for you there are a number of options. First is to find a great painter, establish a price first (always a good idea) and sit for it.
Or else you can get an original hand painted oil painting done from a good photograph, which is probably much easier for both of you.
There are online companies that specialize in this exact thing. Companies with a panel of experienced artists who will organize all of it for you. Prices are roughly around $200 to $500 depending on what you want done. All done from a photo and resulting in an extremely high quality original oil painting for his Christmas gift. Maybe of you.
My favorite is Brushstrokes. They have an extremely good reputation for fine work and have been recognized as such, more recently at the Atlanta Decor Expo 2004 (the largest art and framing show in the world).
Brushstrokes do an enormous range of original and reproduction works, and you can get a beautiful oil painting through them for your guy for Christmas. They are recognised as one of the best and their quality is top notch.
I don’t think you can go past a beautiful oil painting for your guy this Christmas, as long as he’s the sort that would appreciate this sort of gift. It’s a lovely Christmas gift that keeps on giving every time he looks at it. He can see you hanging on his wall every day.
