Now It's Time To Pack Your Gift Basket
Making gift baskets for your man, part 3. We've already looked at theming your basket, and finding an idea for a container. We've also looked at the gifts you will be buying. Now how to put it all together.
You've got your theme worked out, got your gift basket or gift container, you've collected all his gifts ranging from small and sometimes humorous gifts right through to one or 2 more major gifts.
And they all fit in the basket.
Next step is to pack it and make it look good. The first thing you need is a liner. A piece of fabric that is related to his theme. The purpose of the liner is to make it easier to pack the basket and to make it look better. If it is a little too big for the container that's fine, it can hang over the side a little, that looks good.
Next you need some packing materials, something to go between the gifts and to help protect them from rattling and falling over. Shredded paper works well, shredded cardboard. Screwed up paper works.
Bubble wrap, foam packing or polystyrene pieces. Anything that looks appropriate and will work should make fine packing material.
Often when you buy products you find that they come in a box filled with commercial packing materials. Keep as much of these as you can when you get them.
Then start packing. Remember to think a little about what is going in as it goes. Nothing fragile on the bottom. Pack them in firmly with packing material around them so that they won't rattle or move. Perhaps pack the smaller gifts around the one or 2 larger ones that sit on the bottom in the middle.
Use your common sense and pack them in firmly and in an order of your choice, perhaps as you would like him to take them out.
If you're going to stress the gift basket then you need to think about packing a little more. For instance if it's to be shipped it will need to be much better packed than if it's just going to be put in the car and taken to give to him.
It's worth using some double sided tape to stick the heavier items to the bottom. Leave a hole in the liner if so, and stick them directly to the bottom.
Place your own special message or surprise gift on the top of the basket so he will see it first and read your message. Then wrap using a nice quality cellophane. Or if it's to be stressed then consider shrink wrapping it for strength. It doesn't look as good but you want it to arrive in one piece.
I hope you have enjoyed making a gift basket for him. As you have seen it 's not hard to do, and saves money. It makes for a far more personalized gift basket than any commercial one, and you can say all sorts of things with a personalized home made gift basket that you often can't with a commercial one.
